How to get Landsat 8 OLI



The Landsat 8 OLI imagery can be downloaded for free via earthexplorer.usgs.gov. You must login first to get it. Find your location by scrolling and enlarging the existing image on the right side of the web. Make sure the location that you want is right. Mark these location by clicking one of the points of the site. For example, I searched for image of Gunungsewu in Gunungkidul District, Yogyakarta Province, Indonesia. I click on a place in the area of Gunungsewu depicted in the web image. A red symbol will appear and the location coordinate will appear in the box on the left.

Next, specify the time range of the desired image retrieval in the field below. Click the Data Set button below it. Select Landsat 8 OLI/TIRS or Landsat 8 OLI/TIRS Pre-WRS-2 on the choice of Landsat Archives. Click the Result button below it. Earthexplorer will find the data you want. The data that match with the criteria will appear. Select the best data as desired and click Download Option button. Download option box will appear, choose the most appropriate to your needs. Click on the download button to download it.
The capacity of the data may be very large. Speed up your internet access will determine the download time. Congratulation.
